Band Members Bio

Kathy Bartlett
Kathy Bartlett

Our upright bass player, Kathy Bartlett, showed up the first time and played the borrowed bass for an hour with amazing ease.  “How long have you been playing the upright bass”, we asked.  “This is the first time.  I’m really a drummer but I’ve played the bass guitar.”  Soon, she owned the bass and the corner in her living room has grown with a collection of other instruments.  A retired school teacher, Kathy has re-discovered her youthful passion for music.    Her natural ability is evident as she shifts from one instrument to another though we love to have her helping us keep the beat while dancing with the upright bass.

Gail Beck
Gail Beck

Gail Beck first learned music in elementary and middle school playing the flute and singing in the church and school choir.  She kept marching to the music in the high school color guard.  Ever since, she has kept the music in her heart.  Now, inspired by Front Porch Folk, she has learned the dulcimer, strumstick and Ukulele along with fun percussion instruments.  “Because my job can be so stressful, it is my lifeline to be able to let go, be relaxed and to be me.”  That “me” helps make Front Porch Folk special.

Holly Gibbons
Holly Gibbons

Holly Gibbons studied piano and clarinet in her early years.  With Front Porch Folk, she sings leads, harmony, plays the dulcimer, strumstick, ukulele and the banjolele.  As manager of the group, she has taken us to venues and outings we never imagined.  Holly is the Front Porch Folk cheer leader using her sales and social media skills to spread the word.  She demonstrates her love of teaching always seeking opportunities for the group to share what we have learned.  She just loves sharing the joy of music.

Lea Jolley
Lea Jolley

Lea Jolley plays baritone ukulele and provides our low range vocals.  “Some” years ago she played in another all woman folk group and was inspired by Front Porch Folk’s uke workshops to dust the uke off and start playing again.  You may see Lea playing the lap dulcimer from time to time.  “Front Porch Folk has given me a whole new outlook on life, “ Lea says.

Linda Henderson
Linda Henderson

Linda Henderson is a lead vocalist and guitar player for the group.  In elementary school Linda studied violin and cello but soon discovered the guitar.  She sang in church and school choirs, Madrigal and studied voice at Slippery Rock University.  She is also a song writer and Front Porch Folk performs several of her original tunes.  You may also see one of the group playing one of the cigar box ukulele’s or another handmade instrument from Linda.
